RESOLUTIONS OPPOSING PRO-ABORTION AMENDMENT TO THE FLORIDA
CONSTITUTION
WHEREAS, we acknowledge that life begins at conception, that all human life is created in the
image of God, and that all life is precious and a blessing from God;
WHEREAS, the Declaration of Independence declares it to be a self-evident truth that “all men
are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,”
beginning with the right to life;
WHEREAS, the Republican Party of Florida is proud to stand up for the rights of the unborn and
believe all Americans have an unalienable right to life as stated in the Declaration of Independence;
WHEREAS, there is a scientific consensus that each human begins his or her life cycle at
fertilization;
WHEREAS, abortion is destructive to the life, health, and well-being of the unborn child;
WHEREAS, state laws and federal judicial decisions allowing abortion in the United States
denied constitutional rights to unborn children, causing the unspeakable loss of more than 60
million children before birth;
WHEREAS, radical activists have collected petition signatures that would place on the November
ballot a constitutional amendment that would enshrine abortions on demand and up to birth into
the Florida Constitution, which would bypass the delegated authority of the Legislature and
override the right to life laws in effect in the State of Florida;
WHEREAS, Attorney General Ashley Moody has filed a challenge against this proposed
amendment with the Florida Supreme Court because of its attempt to mislead voters and as a result, undermine the authority of the Florida Legislature and Judiciary; and
WHEREAS, while great gains have been made with the United States Supreme Court overturning
Roe and the legislation adopted in the State of Florida that protects life, there is still work to be
done to further protect unborn children from the relentless pursuits of abortionists in the nation.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY:
RESOLVED, that the Republican Party of Florida opposes the pro-abortion amendment labeled
“Amendment to Limit Government Interference in Abortion”, which would make abortion legal
and on demand all the way up to and including delivery, thereby legalizing the barbaric practice
of infanticide;
RESOLVED, that the Republican Party of Florida opposes any efforts to overturn duly passed
and adopted pro-life legislation such as the “Heartbeat Bill” through a constitutional amendment;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that while the Republican Party of Florida applauds legislation
that has been enacted in the State of Florida that will curb thousands of abortions and save
countless babies lives, we recognize that there is still further work to be done to end this inhumane practice once and for all; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Republican Party of Florida supports Attorney General
Ashley Moody’s work of legally challenging both this amendment and the efforts of the
abortionists to place this amendment on the November ballot; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Republican Party of Florida opposes the efforts by the
abortionists to place this radical pro-abortion amendment on the ballot, and if it does appear on the ballot ask all Floridians to vote against this amendment in November.
